Before we start talking about deadly pressure point charts, it is important to know what exactly are pressure points and what are they used for. Without this understanding, you may not be able to make use of pressure points effectively.
What Are Pressure Points
In layman’s terms, pressure points, in relation to martial arts can be defined as particular spots in our body, which when pressed by a finger can cause immense pain. These spots are actually nerve centers and there are plenty of them spread all over the body, which when hit or pressed can cause so much pain that they turn ‘deadly’ and can adequately incapacitate an opponent; thus the name deadly pressure points.
Pressure Points Charts
When such points are depicted through illustrated charts, during martial arts combative technique classes, the students would refer to them as deadly pressure point charts. Deadly pressure point charts can be found in Chinese health illustrations which show meridians and pressure points which are usually used by martial arts practitioners during fights.
Knowing where the deadly pressure points are located can help a martial artist to inflict pain as per his will. The intensity of the pain inflicted would obviously depend on the pressure applied to the point or its adjoining areas.
There are some strategic techniques used during martial arts combats using deadly pressure points. These include:
• Using one raised knuckle at one specific spot perhaps to end the combat in one single move.
• Pressing a particular pressure point to control the next move of the opponent after snapping on a wrist lock.
• Deadly pressure points are also used to make the opponent react. For instance, as soon as the opponent writhes in pain, you could make the critical hit or attack.
